BHEL wins Rs 1,023 cr contract from Neyveli Lignite Corp...

 

State-run BHEL has bagged a Rs 1,023 crore contract from Neyveli Lignite Corporation for supplying turbine generator package at a thermal power project in Tamil Nadu.

"Valued at Rs 1,023 crore, the order has been secured by BHEL from Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC), for their upcoming 1,000 MW Neyveli New Thermal Power Project (NNTPP) at Neyveli, Tamil Nadu," BHEL said in a statement.

BHEL's scope of works includes manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of steam turbine generators & auxiliaries along with associated civil works.

BHEL has earlier secured orders from NLC for their 2x500 MW Tuticorin, 2x250 MW Neyveli and 2x125 MW Barsingsar projects, the statement said.

BHEL has established the capability to deliver power plant equipment of 20,000 MW per annum.

NLC to invest Rs 29,239 crore in coal projects; to set up wind and solar projects...

 

Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC) is expected to invest Rs 29,239 crore in coal and power sectors during 12th plan of which a major share of the investment would into development of power projects.

Sriprakash Jaiswal, Union Minister of Coal today informed the members of Parliamentary Consultative Committee attached to his ministry that out of the total investment, Rs 26,728.40 crore will be for development of power projects while Rs 2,510.70 crore will be for coal projects.

During the period NLC has planned expansion of a number of its ongoing projects which also include mines at Neyveli and Barsingsar (Rajashtan) and power plant at Tuticorin (Tamilnadu).

He said that NLC has also planned to setup wind farm with the investment of Rs 364.75 crore and Solar Power Project with the cost of Rs 13,319 crore.

It is already working on the development of Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) Projects and a UCG project in Raneri, Rajasthan will be taken up through a suitable developer through competitive bidding. UCG projects in Rajasthan and Gujarat will be implemented through a joint venture with ONGC. The government is expecting that the lignite production in the country in 2016-17 is expected to reach 290.16MT.

Participating in the discussion, Members of Parliament (MPs) demanded that during the planning of relief and rehabilitation projects coal companies should consult local elected representatives including the MP.

Power India found that Baroda based Jyoti Ltd has recently bagged orders worth Rs. 100 Crs from various Power Sector companies such as Bhavnagar Energy Corporation, Neyvelli Lignite Corporation & Indiabulls Power for Sea Water Intake, Cooling Water & Outfall system applications. 

 

The Orders comprise of

• Rs. 53 crorers order from Bhavnagar Energy Corporation Ltd for 2 X 250 MW Lignite based TPP.
• Rs. 38 Crores from Neyvelli Lignite Corporation for 2 X 500 MW Tuticorin TPP
• Rs. 11.50 Crors from Indiabulls Power for 5 X 270 MW Sinnar TPP

 

In first two orders the scope of Jyoti includes supply of pumps in complex metallurgy of Duplex Stainless Steel suitable for Seat Water application.

 

While in third order the scope of work is Electro-Mechanical & Instrumentation works for Raw Water Intake System.

NLC to expand operations for new projects..

Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) is expanding its operations with future plans to set up new projects.

The new projects by the public sector company will use fuels other than lignite.

Some of the projects include

• 82,000 MW coal based power plant at Uttar Pradesh as a joint venture with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL), Hadla
• Palana lignite mine of 2.50 MTPA lignite capacity cum 250 MW Barsingsar extension power project at Rajasthan, MTPA Devangudi mine project in Neyveli region
• 84,000 MW imported coal based power plants at Sirkazhi, Tamil Nadu.

Neyveli Lignite set to light 250 MW unit…

• Integrated mining-cum-power generation company Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) is planning to light up one of the two 250 MW Circulating Fluidised Bed Combustion (CFBC) boilers Friday, said a senior official. "We are planning to light one of the boilers Nov 25. We hope to generate 150 MW initially and gradually increase that to the full capacity," an official told media preferring anonymity. According to officials, the second unit is expected to be commissioned next March once the unit gets stabilised after addressing the teething problems.

• He said officials from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) had visited the unit recently. NLC officials said power generation will have to be increased gradually as the technology is new and issues have to be resolved. Officials said generation in the first unit was increased up to 150 MW during the test phase while issues were plugged d uring the process. Power equipment major Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd ( BHEL) had supplied four CFBC boilers for NLC. While the two 250 MW units are located in its home town and near the pit head at Neyveli, the other two units - 2x125 MW - are in Rajasthan. The two units at Rajasthan were dedicated to the nation in June 2010, but the boilers started facing problems and power generation had to be halted.
